Home-Based Parenting Programs

Children First, Oklahoma’s Nurse-Family Partnership

Voluntary family support program that offers home visitation services to mothers expecting their first child. A public health nurse works with mother to increase her chances of delivering a healthy baby, as well as work on child safety and development.

Enrollment Criteria: The new mother must be less than 29 weeks pregnant, be expecting her first child and meet the same income eligibility criteria as WIC and/or Medicaid.

Choctaw Nation Support for Expectant and Parenting Teens (SEPT)

The goal of CNSEPT Program is to improve family health, education, social and safety outcomes for expectantat and parenting teens and their babies by providing medically-accurate and comprehensive services including linkages to critical resources, ongoing support for health and education, and positive parenting relationship skills instruction using an evidence-based, nationally validated model.

Enrollment Criteria:

Must be between the ages of 13-21. Participant must be expecting or parenting a Native American child under the age of 1. Participant must live within the 10.5 county service area of the Choctaw Nation. Particpants must be enrolled and attending an educational institution at the time of enrollment or within the first 6 months.

Other services for young children in your community

SoonerStart Early Intervention

Services include evaluation services, case management, family training, counseling, and home visits, certain health services, nursing & nutrition services, occupational, physical, and speech- language therapy, and special instruction. Can be provided in home or at daycare.
